We are proud to announce the recipients of the 2012 Blackhawk Alumni Scholarships:

2012 SCHOLARSHIP AWARD RECIPIENTS

Boys:

Forwards: Brian Keefe (St. Viator), Austin Bostock (Barrington) and Greg Smart (New Trier Green)

Defensemen: Jack McDonnell (St. Rita) and Jack Mannion (Stevenson)

Goaltender: Corey Simons (Prairie Ridge)

Girls:

Forwards: Claire Santostefano (New Trier), Catherine Heidersbach (Lake Forest Academy) and Hannah Hoffman (Naperville North)

Defense: Elise Gruber (Loyola Academy) and Stephanie Jackson (Neuqua Valley)

Goaltender: Megan Brantley (Naperville Central).

Application and Eligibility Requirements

The Blackhawk Alumni Association (BHAA) distributes college scholarships annually to the most deserving high school hockey players. Awards are determined from a candidate’s level of community service, volunteerism, good citizenship, as well as hockey talent of the individual who receives $5,000.00 annually over four years.

In December of each year, a recommendation form is sent to each high school coach in the State of Illinois. The coaches are asked to identify one outstanding individual whom they feel is worthy of this prestigious award. Once all of the forms are gathered, a selection committee from the Blackhawk Alumni Association (BHAA) will review all of the candidates and then select the recipients.

Thank you to all of the High School coaches who took the time to submit player recommendations this year. For those coaches who did not submit a recommendation by the deadline, we can only ask please make the time for this prestigious award by sending in your recommendation. The players really deserve it!
